HELPING A FRIEND IN NEED
If you have seen many issues of our Island Dispatch newsletter, or received our campaign mailings, or perused our website, then you have seen the magnificent—and generously donated—photographic work of Kurt Thorson. His images have captured the beauty of these islands more eloquently than all our words ever could. In early 2016, Kurt was diagnosed with ALS. Subsequent tests revealed overlapping conditions that have, together, led to a shocking loss of mobility and dexterity. We would like to help Kurt fight back.
Although conventional medicine has no cure for ALS, there are alternative therapies that are known to slow or reverse symptoms. None of these therapies are covered by insurance. It is to help defray the cost of these therapies that an account has been set up at Islanders Bank for a medical fund.
If you would like to donate to this fund, you may contribute in person or by mail to Islanders Bank, 475 Fern St, or PO Box 699, Eastsound, WA 98245. Please direct funds to the Kurt Thorson Medical Fund.
This is a small way in which we, as SJPT members, staff, and friends of the Thorsons, can repay all that Kurt has given us, with his indispensable photographic contributions.
